    Marquette – The 33rd annual Hiawatha Traditional Music Festival will be held Friday, July 22 through Sunday, July 24 at Tourist Park in Marquette. The festival will open with a get acquainted dance at 7:30 p.m. Friday, featuring the Top Drawer String Band and Harmonious Wail.

    Main stage performances begin at 11 a.m. Saturday with an open mic time. Festival artists scheduled to perform include Le Vent du Nord, a Quebecois fiddle band; John McCutcheon, a hammered dulcimer player and storyteller; piedmont bluesmen, Big Ron Hunter and Ironing Board Sam; the Beachley and Scott bluegrass band from Maryland; the Cane Creek Cloggers from North Carolina and the Ebony Hillbillies from New York. Local songwriter Jerry Mills will be on the main stage, as will Copper Country natives Lindsay Tomasic and Jesse Fitzpatrick with their ensemble, Trees.

    The weekend with also include music workshops featuring local, regional and national performers beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, a children’s area with music and crafts, a may pole and a kids’ parade, and a Teen Scene dance on Saturday night, with music by Petal Shop and Northern Skies. Crafts and other activities designed for teens will also be included. A variety of food vendors and craft artisans will also be on site. An Artists in the Round art and craft show and sale, will feature artists and crafters with a wide assortment of wares.
