Health Tip – Aug. 23 – How to Eat Healthier at Work
There’s no question that the workplace influences how, when and why we eat. We spend a great deal of time there, and, in most offices, doughnuts, pizza, sodas and candy bowls aren’t much farther than an arm’s reach. Consuming unhealthy foods and lack of physical activity during your workday can lead to weight gain and health issues, including high blood pressure, stroke, high cholesterol and diabetes.
One trick to eat healthier is to bring your own snacks. Pack healthy snacks to help you avoid the vending machine. Apples, bananas and other fruits are inexpensive and portable. Pair a piece with 1.5 ounces of unsalted nuts, and you’ll have a satisfying, sweet and crunchy snack.
Also, avoid the pop machine. Bring your own beverages such as water or unsweetened herbal tea.
