Between early morning work meetings and dropping off your kids at school, it can be difficult to enjoy a sit-down breakfast. And since breakfast is incredibly beneficial—it kick starts your metabolism, keeps you from bingeing later and makes you more alert—it’s vital that what you choose to eat in the morning is healthy.

For days when slow-cooked oatmeal or breakfast scrambles are out of the question, there are still nutritious “on-the-go” options. From pre-made meals to healthy options at cafes down the road, you won’t have to sacrifice nutrition for the most important meal of the day.
If you want to throw it in your bag, look for bars with less than 10 ingredients. and check the nutrition labels to make sure they are high in both fiber and protein, which will keep you fuller longer. Also, check the sugar level.

If you are already out the door, swing by a café or drive-thru, but know the healthy menu ahead of time and order items like whole-wheat grains or yogurt with fruit.
If you have 10 minutes to spare, try an omelet in a cup. Grab a microwave-safe mug, crack two eggs into it with 1 TBSP milk, and mix it up. Microwave for one minute before adding in fresh vegetables, seasoning or low-calorie cheese for extra flavor and nutrients. Then, continue microwaving until the eggs are cooked all the way through, and then enjoy! This fun way to prepare eggs is ready in only a few minutes.
