Two Negaunee Men Make Their Way to Colorado To Run 50 Miles In The Mountains

Jon and Joe Vizena are ready to Race. Go Negaunee Go!

Leadville, Colorado  -  July 13, 2013 –  Negaunee turns out two ultra athletes headed to Leadville Colorado for the Leadville Silver Rush 50 Run.

Jon and Joe Vizena, brothers from Negaunee, Michigan  have a passion for running.  Jon and Joe are ultra athletes.

Joe did all of his training in Marquette and  lives locally with Naomi. Joe graduated from Northern Michigan University and is employed at Pioneer Surgical.

Jon is currently living in Boston,  and is building a photography business.  Jonathon Fredrick Photography using a new HDR processing that makes his photos look like paintings. Jon is engaged to Carolyn, a pediatric surgeon in Boston, and they will be married in Marquette in October.

The Silver Rush 50 Run in Colorado is underway this weekend along with the Silver Rush 50 MTB.  The Vizena’s are watching the bike race today.  Tomorrow,  Sunday July 14 they will both set foot into the mountains for the 50mile race.

Finishing the 50mile race in under 11 hours will qualify them for the 100 mile race in 2014.

The 50-mile out-and-back course takes racers through the historic mining district on the east side of Leadville. Primarily on dirt roads, first set by miners and their burros. None of the roads used will be closed to vehicle traffic.  The route will take runners by and between many grand and historic gold and silver mines. There will be 7 well-supplied aid stations.

Jon and Joe’s support crew consist of their parents Fred and Carol,  and Joe’s wife Naomi.  Best wishes to them and what a fun and rare family experience.
