Shepler’s Mackinac Island Ferry Wraps Up Their Tourist Season

Sheplers-FerryMackinaw City, MI  –  November 6, 2013  –  October 31st marked the last day of passenger service for Shepler’s Ferry’s 2013 season. Captain Chris Shepler joined Major Discount and award-winning News Director Walt Lindala on the Shopping Show to discuss the 2013 season.

Shepler’s Ferry offers discounted ferry tickets through the Shopping Show during their passenger service season and, as Walt Lindala noted, they are one of the most popular items carried on the Shopping Show.

Although passenger services have ceased for the season, Shepler’s freight ship, Sacre Bleu, will continue to ferry goods and equipment to and from Mackinac Island until ice on the Straits of Mackinac shuts them down for the season.  Captain Shepler talked about improvements made last year to the freight boat and how you can set up a business cruise during good weather on the freight boat or any one of the Shepler’s boats.

“I’m a firm believer in what the State of Michigan is doing with the Pure Michigan campaign,” Captain Shepler said with regards to improving the economy through tourism and how that impacts the local region. The Pure Michigan ads shown on a national level generate a lot of exposure for Mackinac Island and for Shepler’s Ferry.

“Things are really, really good for us right now and we’re hoping for bigger and better things next year,” Captain Shepler said.
