Marquette, MI  –  April 14, 2016  –  The weather couldn’t have been better for the National Guard’s special trip to Marquette, MI. Landing a Black Hawk Helicopter on the Northern Michigan University’s soccer field, men and women from the National Guard set up a “Greet ‘n Meet.”

From 1 to 3 PM today, a group of men and women in uniform surrounded the helicopter talking with students and community members. Former veterans came out to share stories, along with NMU Cadets among the mix.

I spoke to one Northern Cadet who gave me a little bit more about what was going on. He told me, “Yeah, the Guard is here to take the cadets from Northern on a ride. They’re also going to be taking people into the armory and give a presentation there. We’re all really here to recruit anyone we can and get information out about who we are.”
