Marquette, Michigan – February 20, 2013 – Today is National Love Your Pet Day, so spend some extra time loving up on your furry friends.
We love our pets every day, but it’s nice to have a day set aside just for pampering them.
It’s easy to get wrapped up in all the running around we do and sometimes we might not spend as much time as we’d like with our pets.
I plan on picking up some new toys for my pets today and then I’m going to spend some extra time playing with them tonight.
Our guinea pigs, Baby Ham and Mr. Piggy, love to play hide and seek in cardboard tunnels and shoe boxes.
They’re pretty easily entertained. We like to set up a little obstacle course for them and then encourage them to run through it by rewarding them with carrots.
My German Shepherd, Nova, needs a new flying disc in the worst way. Every year I have to buy her a new one because she chews a hole through it before the snow flies.
Just like her dad, The Bear, she will chase flying discs all day long. She’s so beautiful when she runs and jumps… it’s a lot of fun to play with her!
If your pet isn’t quite so active, you could still spend a little extra time snuggling with them. They love to spend time with us and we need to remember them even when we’re really busy.
