02/25/14 Iron Mountain, Michigan– Carl Leander Johnson the voice of the Negaunee Miners and his friend Becky Rotter traveled to Iron Mountain Mountaineers to bring you exciting play by play basketball action as the Negaunee Miners Boys faced the Iron Mountain Mountaineers on Sunny.FM.
The Mountaineers won the tip, but turned the ball over to start the game. Negaunee was able to capitalize on an Eric Lori three-pointer and lead 3-0 to start the game. Iron Mountain put their first points of the game with five minutes left in the quarter to trail 7-2. The Mountaineers narrowed the Negaunee’s lead to three with two minutes left in the first quarter. Tyler Jandron picked up two offensive fouls over the course of the first six minutes of the quarter, then followed that up with a reaching foul and a technical foul to give him four fouls at the end of the first quarter. Iron Mountain was able to utilize the Miners’ frazzled state and took their first lead and ended the quarter up 13-10 in Iron Mountain, Michigan.

The Miners were first to score in the second quarter and cut the lead to one. With Tyler Jandron on the bench, Eric Lori took over for Negaunee. With five minutes left in the first half the was tied at 17 on Sunny.FM. The Miners regained the lead with three minutes left in the first half on an Eric Lori lay-up. The first half of the game ended with the Negaunee Miners Boys leading 25-24 against the Iron Mountain Mountaineers on Sunny.FM.
Negaunee would be first to score in the second half of the basketball game and led 27-24. The Mountaineers were able to out score the Miners in the first few minutes of the third and tied the score 29-29 with five minutes left in the quarter. The game got a little chippy as Zack Caudell of Iron Mountain fouled out then pushed Eric Lori on the way out leading to a technical foul on Eric Lori who responded in turn. The final minutes of the quarter had both teams battling for the lead. The quarter ended on a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Tyler Windahl to give Negaunee a 45-42 lead over the Mountaineers.
The Miners took over in the fourth. They pushed their lead to seven points early on in the quarter and never looked back. Tyler Jandron, who scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half, took control of the game and drove the lane consistently. They pushed the lead to double digits (52-42) and had Iron Mountain on the ropes halfway through the fourth quarter. Negaunee continued their aggressive play, and not even Tyler Jandron fouling out slowed them down as they led by 19 points over Iron Mountain. The Negaunee Miners ended the game with an impressive win over the Iron Mountain Mountaineers 67-43 on Sunny.FM!

Leading the way for your Negaunee Miners was senior shooting guard Eric Lori (19pts, 4reb, 2assts). Despite falling into some foul trouble, Tyler Jandron (14pts, 4stls, reb, assts) was able to contribute as usual. Also chipping in tonight for the Miners was sophomore forward Jay Lori (9pts, 5reb, 2assts, blk), junior forward Robert Loy (7pts, 3assts, 2reb, stl), and senior sixth-man Tyler Windahl (5pts, 3reb, 2assts, 2blks).
