Marquette, Michigan – May 12, 2016 – Aurora Cardoso, General Manager at Sol Azteca Mexican Restaurant in Marquette visited the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans earlier today to present a $1,300 check to support the D.J. Jacobetti Veterans Activity Fund.
In March, Sol Azteca launched their ‘Sunny Sundays’ campaign, donating a portion of every Sunday’s profits during that month to the Jacobetti Veterans Home. Cardoso said she was pleased with the results of the campaign and mentioned that the donation was made possible by the incredible support of the community.

Brad Slagle, Director of the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans said when the community gets involved and and puts together events such as the ‘Sunny Sundays’ campaign, it puts “icing on the cake” for the veterans. Slagle said the gift will be used to do things outside of the facility like taking veterans to community events, hockey games, picnics, and more.
Cardoso is proud to help our local veterans, saying it is important to pay them back for the sacrifices they made so we can have our freedom. She plans to resume ‘Sunny Sundays’ this fall, naming a new charity, organization or project to help each month.
“We wanted to try something like this to be able to help our community in some small way,” said Cardoso. “We look forward to continuing this fantastic program in the fall.”
