Check out this huge mountain of diapers that were donated by the community!

Marquette, MI  –  May 21, 2016  –  What a great day to spend in the park with your family! Or go for a run (or a walk) with your family! Luke Noordyk and his family spent the morning at the No Child Wet Behind Diaper Drive and 5k held at Mattson Lower Harbor park this morning.

Diaper Need is REAL in the United States, and it’s definitely real here in the U.P. as well. If you haven’t had little ones in diapers for a while, the cost to diaper one child is over $70 a month nowadays! That’s over $200 a month for families who have 3 kids in diapers. Almost half of all children under age 3 live in low income homes and there is no federal program that allocates funds for diapers.

Today was all about babies and toddlers at Lower Harbor Park. Our community rallied behind this great cause and there was a MOUNTAIN of donated diapers at the event! It’s always great to see how our community supports one another. Many thanks to everyone who helped make this event a huge success, including the Doulas of Marquette, Great Lakes Radio, Double Trouble DJs for the bounce house, UP Health Systems and Plexus for providing some great after run snacks and water for the runners, and all of the sponsors involved.
