The Negaunee Miners are ready to roll!

NEGAUNEE, MI -August 18 -With all of the fall sports starting up their pre-season work, the Negaunee Miners are revved up to get back onto the field of play.  School is still two weeks away, but the sporting season begins THIS WEEK for the Maize & Blue!

While Football doesn’t begin until next week, there’s still plenty of ways to get out and show your Miner pride:

Girl’s Tennis

In the first sporting event of the 2014-2015 school year for the Negaunee Miners, the Varsity girls will be heading up the road to West Ishpeming to face off against the Westwood Patriots.  Meanwhile, the J.V. Girls will be hosting those same Patriots.  Both meets are scheduled to begin at 11am on WEDNESDAY (8/20).

Then, on FRIDAY (8/22), the varsity girls will head to West Iron County to face off against the Wykons.  That meet is scheduled to begin at 11am as well.  Also on Friday, the J.V. Girls will take a slightly shorter trip up US-41 to face off against the Marquette Redettes.  That meet is also scheduled for 11am.

Girl’s Volleyball

The girl’s varsity volleyball team will open up their 2014 campaign in Marquette on THURSDAY (8/21) at 6pm.  Coming off of a year where they hovered just above .500, the varsity team will be bringing back some good players for their senior years.  Adena Anderson, Alexa Olgren, Hannah Laurila, Katelyn Johnson, and Emilee Lokken all were good contributors last season, and will look to step into bigger roles as seniors.

The girls will have another meet just two days later (SATURDAY, 8/23) in Kingsford starting at 10am.

Cross Country

The Cross Country team will start their season with the first of three meets “at” Marquette.  Their season will start on FRIDAY (8/22) with a 10am start time.
