Marquette, MIOctober 8, 2018 – The Marquette Township Fire Department hosted a special open house event on Monday to kick off Fire Prevention Week in Marquette.  The public was invited to come and see all the expensive firefighting equipment that the department uses on a daily basis, as well as to distribute smoke detectors and inform people how they should be installed.  Sunny FM’s own Joe Duckworth was live on the air from the open house, and he told everyone about all the fun.

The open house was an event for kids and adults alike, with free tours of the fire station, free food, and a special appearance by the Michigan State Police’s K-9 unit as well.  There were plenty of activities for people of all ages, and everyone that went was very interested in seeing the fire engines and all the cool gear that the men and women that protect Marquette use every day.
