  1. When I quote statistics I provide my source. This comes naturally because I am a retired medical librarian. I don’t recall seeing or hearing the source of “so-called” statistics from Dan Adamini. Please see Bill Moyers Essay, “The Gun Lobby’s Firepower,” January 4, 2013. I quote, “We can’t forget (Newtown.) We mustn’t relent. We have to keep talking about this, because Wayne LaPierre and the NRA are insidious and powerful predators. Have you seen the reports in both the Journal of the American Medical Association and The Washington Post of how, 16 years go, the NRA managed to get Congress to pull funding on gun violence studies at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention? And just two years ago, NRA henchmen even snuck a provision into the Affordable Care Act that prevents doctors from collecting information on their patients’ gun use. As Wayne LaPierre’s brazen call for an armed populace makes clear, the odds don’t favor common sense. There are always members of Congress (including Dr. Benishek)willing to do the gun lobby’s bidding as they profess their love of the second amendment and wait like hungry house pets for the next NRA campaign donation.” Dan Adamini, please don’t insult my intelligence. I was blessed to be able to attend private school during part of elementary school and attend a Catholic college for part of my higher education. My undergraduate degree is from a public university. I have been educated to communicate without using words such as “crazies” and “left-wing-nuts” which in my opinion, are incendiary and harmful, particularly “crazies” when too many of the school assassins probably had mental problems. I don’t recall ever seeing pictures of Christ, Our Lord, with a weapon in his hand. For those who purport to be honorable religious practitioners, I suggest they reflect on the image of Christ. I have challenged Congressman Dr. Benishek to introduce a bill for funding of mental health research and a bill to assist mental health practitioners in their research to enable them to provide much needed mental health care for their patients. I am not holding my breath. Dr. Benishek would probably have to return his $9,900 campaign contribution from the NRA.

  2. The greateat of all O.T. writers of the Psalms was David…He wrote Psalms of connection and Love toward God, David, quoted as the man after God’s heart, a little man, brave and filled with a plan and valour, had numerous weapons.to defend himself, his family, his country. The right to bear arms is ancient, and was used by the God fearing men and women since the beginning of time. We need to maintain reasonable freedom here.
