Carl’s Top-10 Running Songs

A silhouette of a jogger runningHey guys, if you listened to my show earlier then you heard that I was talking about some good songs to use when you’re running or working out.  I’ll add a couple links to some websites, but I’ll also give you s0me personal recommendations from yours truly.

1.)  “First of the Year” by Skrillex

This dubstep song is my personal favorite motivator.  It has a good beat to run to in rhythm, followed by a very motivating fast section.  If your ears are sensitive, though, be sure to listen to it a little quieter.

2.)  “Rise” by Hans Zimmer

Who doesn’t love Batman?  Crazy people, that’s who.  If this music was good enough for Batman to workout to, then it’s good enough for you.  Trust me.

3.)  “Crystallize” by Lindsey Stirling

While her videos are a little nerdy, the music behind them are epic.  I highly recommend any Lindsey Stirling song to be honest.  She’s a crossover between dubstep and classical, which leads to a fantastic beat and rhythm perfect for running.  Check it out…..NOW!

4.)  “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons

This song has become very popular over the past few months.  I love this song as a beginning motivator and a mid-run motivator.  The song has a 20-second opening that is pretty slow….but when that base drops…..WOW!

5.)  “Day ‘N’ Night” by Kid Cudi

While this song would fall under the hip-hop or rap category, it is perfect for people who just need a simple beat to keep their feet moving.  There is no crazy fast parts like the others, but the song is very easy to listen to, and keeps your feet moving.

6.)  “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes

This song has become a staple in sports arenas across the country, but it is perfect for running.  The drum goes in line for any level of jogging, and the chorus is a fantastic motivator to get you to pick it up a little bit.  There is also a remix by the Glitch Mob that is very good too.

7.)  “Titanium” by David Guetta

This song keeps me going on my longest runs.  It is a build-up-go-down-back-up sort of deal.  Whether I’m halfway through, or trying to finish strong, if this song hits my ears…..I’m gone.

8.)  “Hall of Fame” by The Script (ft. Will-I-Am)

From the piano, to the drums, to the lyrics, which are fantastic, this song was built for a runner.

9.)  “I Can’t Stop” by Flux Pavillion

The name alone should really sum it up.  If you hate dubstep and repetition, this one isn’t for you.  However, if you’re a normal person who likes fantastic base drops with a simple message, check this out.  You won’t be disappointed.

10.)  “Joker and the Thief” by Wolfmother

This song serves two purposes for me.  1.)  When I go downhill skiing, it’s just  fun run down Marquette Mountain.  2.)  When I need to pick up my pace while running.  It’s impossible not to.

Well there you have it guys.  Your personal recommendations a la Carl.  Be sure to expand on the artists I wrote down too.  Totally worth it to the average runner who just needs some jams to get going.  ENJOY!
