3. Fragments of pottery vessels found on sites and in refuse deposits where pottery-making peoples have lived.

4. Highly angular curved glass fragments of tuffaceous sediment.

Sample sentence: Julie dropped a glass bowl and cut her hand on a shard when she attempted to clean up the mess.
