Marquette, MI  –  Late last week Todd Paz spoke with Peter White Library’s Margaret Boyle. Margaret gave us a whole list of up coming events going on at the library for the week.

story-booksStarting today, July 21st, we still have the LEGO Club to come at 3:00 PM. Margaret mentioned if children were interested in robotics, LEGOs are a great place to start! Children in Kindergarten through fifth grade are welcome to join!

Wednesday, July 22nd, the library is having it’s second book fair of the summer. The Every Hero Has a Story Book Fair will be going on throughout the day, from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. In order to join, kids must bring their book logs showing they have read at least ten days in a row for a minimum twenty minutes each day. If kids achieve this goal, they get to come to the event and choose a new free book to take home with them!

Following the Book Fair, local author Bruce Larson, author of Secrets and Rivals will be hosting a signing. Secrets and Rivals is a book based of the letters Larson’s parents exchanged through WWII. Stop by and get to know Larson and feel free to ask any writing related questions.

Thursday, July 23rd, starts with Book Babies at 10:30 AM. This class is for parents and infants interested in meeting with other families and having some time to interact with others!

At 1:00 PM, the Summer Art Adventures takes place for kids in kindergarten – fourth grade. During this time, there will be a story read aloud followed by an art-based activity that relates to the book in some way. This activity is one that the kids will be able to bring home with them at the end of the day.

At 3:00 PM on Thursday, Peter White will be having a Heroes of Olympus Party based of the well known Percy Jackson book series. The party is open to youth grades five through eleven. There will be games, crafts, and trivia. Costumes are more than welcome! Bring your child out to have a fun time with other kids who have something in common!

The Pet Partners Program ends Thursday night with very calm and loving dogs that enjoy being read too! Children can read to an assigned canine to practice their reading skills without any fair of being judged or corrected!

Ending this week of fantastic events at the Peter White Library is an event everyone can enjoy: a movie! The library will show Shrek at 1 pm! The Peter White Library encourages families to bring their own munchies and enjoy this fun, family film.
