Marquette, MI – January 20, 2016 – New local President of NAMI, Cindy K. Bertucci, was interviewed this last Saturday on Sunny 101.9 on the 8th Day radio show.  She discussed NAMI’s  mission to provide help and support to both those suffering with mental illness and family and friends of those with mental illness.

Ms. Bertucci also discussed a support group that will gather Thursday, January 21 at 7:00pm in the Nonprofit Commons Conference Room, 129 West Baraga Avenue, Marquette. 906-360-7107, or In case of bad weather, if NMU cancels evening classes, the NAMI meeting will also be cancelled.

“This is my passion,” helping people, and trying to show that this is a disease like any other physical illness, said Bertucci.  Removing the stigma of mental illness drives much of Ms. Bertucci does.

The organization is “the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.”

The National Alliance on Mental Illness-Alger/Marquette Chapter offers confidential support groups and educational meetings for individuals living with mental illness, and friends or families living with an individual with mental illness.
