Marquette, MI – May 6th, 2016 – The Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center was recently awarded $1,000,000, and Todd Paz caught up with Elise Bur to talk about the award.

The funding is going to be used to renovate the UGLFHC’s current facility by adding an additional 2500 square feet of new space, as well as updating the current structure of their facilities.

Elise told Todd, “The current building, built in 1987, is just too small for the UGLFHC’s anticipated growth.” They also discussed how the plan will follow the Patient Centered Medical Home Model using a team-based approach.

This project is set to reduce congestion, help improve patient flow, enhance provider productivity, and provide multiple other benefits. It’s also designed to provide more individuals and families with access to health care by allowing the Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center to include additional health care providers.

The Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center is one of only 10 health centers in Michigan to receive this award, thanks in part to the Affordable Health Care Act.
