Marquette, MINovember 17th, 2017The Be Local, Buy Local program will be kicking off on November 22nd, and their message is clear: support the community and shop local!  The Greater Ishpeming and Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the Marquette Chamber of Commerce this year, and Kelsey Reyes was on The 8th Day with Todd Pazz to talk about the program.

This is the second year that the county-wide program will occur, and they will look to expand on last year’s success.  In 2016, there were over 100 businesses that took part in the program, generating $548,809 in revenue for locally-owned and operated businesses.

This year, the program will expand to a year-long effort to encourage people to be mindful with their purchases and keep their money close to home.  The program requires participants to download the Be Local, Buy Local mobile app, which will give people the opportunity to win a $100 gift card.  To be eligible to win, all you have to do is take a picture of the receipt from one of the participating businesses and upload it to the app, and you’ll automatically be entered into the drawing.

The Greater Ishpeming and Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce will also be running a punch card program from December 1st to December 20th.  If you shop at a chamber member business, you can save your receipts and bring them to the Chamber of Commerce office.  For every $50 that you spend, you will be entered into a drawing for one of many available prizes.  The drawing will be held on December 21st, and winners will be contacted by the Chamber of Commerce directly.
