Gwinn, Michigan —The Negaunee Miners look to continue their hot start to the season as they travel to Gwinn for a road test against the Modeltowners.
Gwinn gets on the board first and Negaunee responds with a bucket on their first possession of the game, making it 2-2. Negaunee jumps out to a 5-2 lead with a 3-pointer. Gwinn calls a timeout after the Miners take a 9-4 lead. Negaunee leads 11-6, taking advantage of a Gwinn turnover. With 3:46 left to play in the first quarter, Negaunee leads 11-8. The Miners lead 16-8 after Ashley Veale converts at the free throw line.
First quarter:

The Miners get on the board first as they split a pair of free throws to make it 20-8. Ashley Veale scores in the paint to give Negaunee a 24-9 lead. The Modeltowners strike first in the second half as they connect on a lay-up and complete the free throw after the foul. Negaunee responds with a lay-up, making the score 29-20. With 5:23 left in the third quarter Negaunee holds a 29-21 advantage. Gwinn cuts the Miner lead to six, 29-23, midway through the third quarter. Negaunee hits a 3-pointer to push their lead to 32-23, with under three minutes left to play. The Miners extend their lead into double digits again, as they take a 34-23 lead as the third quarter winds down. Negaunee goes on a 8-0 as they take a 38-23 lead.

Negaunee scores first in the final frame, as they hold a 17-point edge, at 40-23. Rosalie Anderson connects down low to make it 42-24 for the Miners. Anderson grabs her own missed free throw and puts it in for two points. The Miners lead 46-24 as they are starting to pull away. With 2:28 to play Negaunee is up 47-26. The Miners continue their stellar second half shooting as they are up 53-26 with 1:34 left to play in the fourth quarter.
Negaunee got off to a strong start and kept the pressure on all game as they pick up a road win in Gwinn and improve to 5-0 in conference play.
