Negaunee, Michigan Friday February 19th, 2016 – The Negaunee Miners Girls Basketball team hosted the Westwood Patriots tonight. Jesse Anderson and Brady Guilbault were there LIVE from the U.P. Propane Broadcast Booth on Sunny.FM.
The first quarter started slow, with the first points scored 2 1/2 minutes into the game by the Negaunee Miners to give them the early lead. The quarter was half over and the Negaunee defense held the Patriots scoreless and led 5-0. The Negaunee Miners ended the first quarter leading the Westwood Patriots 10-1.
The Negaunee started the second quarter with possession of the ball and Aleda Johnson immediately scored a 3 point shot to advance the Miners lead. The Negaunee Miners stepped up the tempo in the second quarter and led 21-3 with 3 minutes left in the half. The Negaunee Miners ended the second quarter with an impressive lead over the Westwood Patriots 23-5 on Sunny.FM.
The third quarter started with the Westwood Patriots fouling the Negaunee Miners and the Miners gain 1 point from the free throws to lead 24-5. The quarter was half over and both teams scored a minimal amount of points, but the Negaunee Miners maintained a 27-8 lead. The Negaunee Miners ended the quarter with a 37-13 lead over the Westwood Patriots.
The Negaunee Miners continued to dominated in the fourth quarter of play and wrapped the game up with the win 49-21 over the Westwood Patriots.
