09/12/14 Negaunee, Michigan – The Negaunee Miners were at
home tonight for the first home game of the season against non-conference rival Gladstone Braves. Carl Leander Johnson the voice of the Negaunee Miners and his partner Jesse Anderson were there to bring you all the exciting action LIVE on Sunny.FM.
The Gladstone Braves were first to receive the ball tonight and drove the ball well, but the Negaunee Miners were able to stop the Braves with a tackle by Dylan Tasson. The Negaunee Miners first possession was short lived and with 8 minutes left in the quarter the score remained 0-0. With under 3 minutes left in the quarter the Negaunee Miners were deep in the Gladstone Braves territory and scored a touchdown to lead the Gladstone Brave 7-0 with the kick to end the first in Negaunee, Michigan.
The Gladstone Braves started the second quarter against the Negaunee Miners at their own 38 yard line, but possession would be lost to the Negaunee Miners. The Negaunee Miners took over with 9 minutes left in the first half of the game and gained another touchdown to lead 13-0. The Gladstone Braves would answer the Negaunee Miners within 20 seconds and score a touchdown return to put their first points of the game on the board to trail 13-6 against the Miners on Sunny.FM. With 2 minutes left in the game the Gladstone Braves scored another touchdown and trailed 13-12 against the Negaunee Miners to end the second quarter in Negaunee, Michigan.
The Negaunee Miners lost the drive to the Gladstone Braves early in the third quarter. The Gladstone Braves marched the ball down the field as the Negaunee Miners defensive struggled to hold them back. The Gladstone Braves scored another touchdown to lead 18-13 against the Negaunee Miners with 10 minutes left in the third quarter. The Miners would take the next possession deep into the Braves territory to score a touchdown to regain the lead 19-18 against the Gladstone Braves. The score would remain the same for the rest of the quarter.
The Gladstone Braves would start the fourth quarter with a short lived drive as the Negaunee Miners defense stopped them early in the quarter. The Negaunee Miners lost the next possession to the Gladstone Braves with 7 minutes left in the game. With 5 minutes left in the game the Gladstone Brave were at 1st and goal to score a touchdown and take the lead against the Negaunee Miners 24-19. The Negaunee Miners return had them take over at the Braves 40 yardline, but would lose the possession. The game would end with the Gladstone Braves winning 24-19 against the Negaunee Miners on Sunny.FM.
