Norway, Michigan Friday September 30th, 2016– The 5-0 Negaunee Miners traveled to Norway, Michigan tonight to face the 5-0 Norway Knights. Mark Evans and Gregg Nelson were there to bring you all the exciting action LIVE from the U.P. Press Box on Sunny.FM.
The Negaunee Miners kicked off to start the game and the Norway Knights started their first drive with a 21 yard gain. The Norway Knights marched down the field to the Miners 19 yard line, but fumbled the ball and the Negaunee Miners recovered it. The Negaunee Miners took advantage of the possession and scored a touchdown, ran in by Shane Ring. The Negaunee Miners ended the first quarter with the lead 7-0 against the Norway Knights on Sunny.FM.
The second quarter started with a Norway Knight possession, but the drive was quickly stopped by the Negaunee Miners defense. The Negaunee Miners scored an immediate touchdown from the line of scrimmage with 78 yard run from Shane Ring and the Miners took a 14-0 lead. Luke Mattson scored a 19 yard touchdown for the Negaunee Miners halfway through the second quarter to give them a 21-0 lead over the Norway Knights after the extra point. The Norway Knights scored late in the quarter to trail 21-7 to the Negaunee Miners to end the first half.
The Negaunee Miners started the third quarter with possession of the football, but turned it over on downs to the Norway Knights. The third quarter was a defensive battle, but the Negaunee Miners were able to score a touchdown and the extra point late to lead 28-7.
The Negaunee Miners started the fourth quarter with possession of the ball, but turned it over to the Norway Knights on downs. The Norway Knights were able to score again late in the fourth quarter to trail 28-14 to the Negaunee Miners. The Negaunee Miners were able to maintain the lead and win the game 28-14 on Sunny.FM.
