12/04/2017- Negaunee Miners Hockey team is defeated by the Escanaba Eskymos (13-6) on Sunny.FM

Negaunee, Michigan12/04/2017– This Monday night the Negaunee Miners hockey team took on the Escanaba Eskymos right here in the Negaunee ice rink. This game was a little one-sided as Escanaba dominated the rink. Tyler Young and A.J. Morgan brought you all of the action on Sunny.FM 101.9.

The first period of the game, the puck was dancing between the Negaunee and Escanaba territories as both teams were fighting for control. Peyton Anderson, of the Miners, was the first to score in the game with a shot that went right over the Eskymos blocker! Escanaba scored two more times after that and at the end of the first period the Miners were trailing by two. The shots at the end of the first period were 18-9 in favor of the Eskymos.
First Period Score:
Negaunee Miners- 1
Escanaba Eskymos- 2

Action in the second period leaned more towards the Eskymos favor. Escanaba had all of the momentum while Negaunee was almost backed against the wall with their penalty kills. After the Eskymos scored, Bryce Jarvi, of the Miners, put the puck in the net on a power play. The Eskymos scored three more times after that until Jack Mattias, of the Miners, shot the puck in to score. Escanaba then scored two more times to keep the lead at the end of the second period by 5 points. Shots at the end of the second period were 31-10 in favor of the Eskymos.

Escanaba Eskymos- 8

In the third period the Miners still had some trouble with penalty kills and just did not have the greatest defense against the Eskymos. The Miners did score first when Andrew Sorensen made a good slap-shot to score. The Eskymos scored two more times after that and then Bryce Jarvi made another slap-shot for the Miners. After a fight to get the puck out of their zone, the Miners were unable to defend against the Eskymos as they scored another goal. Andrew Sorensen scored the last goal of the night for Negaunee just before the Escanaba scored two more points. Shots at the end of the game were 43-16 in favor of Escanaba.

Escanaba Eskymos- 13
