The ball was won by Gwinn to start off the game. Right away it was easy to tell that the game was going to be played very fast paced and physical. The two teams were neck and neck until our Negaunee Miners were able to take control and keep it with an eight point lead at the end of the first (16-8). Negaunee kept up good defense in the second quarter against Tucker Taylor, a force for the ModelTowners. Both teams had good runs in the first half of the game, the Miners took the first quarter and the ModelTowners picked up their slack in the second quarter. 27-25 was the score at the half with the Miners leading the ModelTowners. #35 for the Miners at the free-throw line. Miners VS ModelTowners Boys basketball.

The second half of the game was when the Miners really started to play hard like they had practiced. They had possession of the ball to start the third quarter. Jason Waterman, of the Miners, was on fire as he kept making swoosh after swoosh. Between the Miners and the ModelTowners, they played this game very competitive and very passionately. Jake Hill played great defensively for the Miners. 50-33 was the score at the end of the third with the Miners leading the ModelTowners. In the fourth quarter, Negaunee got into a double bonus. Theo Kumpula made a really neat save as he dove out of bounds to swat the ball back onto the court for the Miners. The Miners held the lead throughout the game and had a great test and learning experience playing against the Gwinn ModelTowners. 62-45 was the final score of the game with the Miners taking the win.
