Menominee, Michigan12/29/2017–  This Friday night, the Negaunee Miners Girls basketball team traveled to Menominee, Michigan to take on the Maroons. The Miners came into this game a perfect 5-0 while the Maroons were 2-3. Brady Guilbault and Jesse Anderson brought you all of the play-by-play action on Sunny.FM.

The tip-off was won by the Miners to start off the game. The first quarter went by smoothly with the Miners taking the lead. 18-6 was the score at the end of one. Again, in the second quarter, the Miners did a good job of keeping their lead and at half-time the score was 34-11. Natalie Bartle, of the Miners, was the top scorer in the first half of the game for Negaunee with 13 points. Emily Barrett had 5 points to lead her team, Maroons, in the first half.

The second half of the game, the Negaunee girls started off a little sloppy with their offense. The third quarter was a slow one for the Miners but the Maroons had a chance to catch up. 41-23 was the score at the end of the third quarter. The Miners played a pretty good game

defensively but without their floor leader, Clara Johnson, they had some minor set backs when the Maroons set up their trapping zone. The fourth quarter started off about the same as the third but by the end, the Miners had picked up their slack and in the last few seconds of the game, Peyton Drew scored a nice three pointer for Negaunee to make their victorious score 56-29. Natalie Bartle scored the most points for the Miners (21 points) while Erin Barrett scored the most for the Maroons (11 points). The Miners Girls basketball team is now 6-0 for the season!
