Boyne City, Michigan Friday August 25th, 2017 –  The Negaunee Miners Football  team started their season tonight against the Boyne City Ramblers.  Mark Evans and Gregg Nelson were there to bring you all the gridiron action LIVE on Sunny 101.9.

The Boyne City Ramblers  had the first possession of the game and marched down the field scoring a touchdown and the extra point, to take the early 7-0 lead.  The Miners were quick to answer back on their first possession, when Jason Waterman threw a 60 yard pass to Jacob Ennett for a touchdown, to bring the Miners within one point of the Ramblers. The first quarter ended with the Ramblers leading 14-6.

The Boyne City Ramblers scored a touchdown to start the second quarter on a third point conversion and led the Miners 20-6.  The Negaunee Miners continued to struggle early in the second quarter offensively and were unable to convert a couple possessions into points.  The Ramblers found some good drives and were able to score another touchdown and led 26-6 late in the second quarter.  The Boyne City Ramblers fumbled the ball in the final seconds of the first half and Theo Kumpula picked up the loose ball and scored a touchdown on 40 yard run.  The Miners trailed 26-13 at the end of the first half.

The Miners started the second half of play kicking to the Ramblers who wasted no time scoring.  The Ramblers were able to carry the ball to the Miners 2 yard line and scored on the first down of the half and led 32-13.  The Ramblers continued to dominate the Negaunee Miners and maintained an impressive 44-13 lead at the end of the third quarter on Sunny.FM.

The Negaunee Miners continued to struggle against the Boyne City Ramblers tonight and the clock was running with 5 minutes left in the game.  The Boyne City Ramblers defeated the Negaunee Miners .

The Negaunee Miners Football Team started their season off with a loss, their record sits at 0-1. The Negaunee Miners next game will be at home on Thursday August 31st, 2017 against the Calumet Copper Kings.
