Marquete, Michigan – Following the 10:30 a.m. Ishpeming Independence Day Parade, Marquette parade participates who were in the Ishpeming event, including Great Lakes Radio, scrambled to drive to Marquette from Ishpeming in time to line up in assigned order. Fortunately, excellent planning meant no problems with making the Marquette 4th of July Parade by the 12:30 deadline.
The Great Lakes Radio (GLR) staff gathered for lunch — pepperoni and sausage pizzas and pop from Toarmina’s Pizza, enjoyed their short respite, and then headed out.
Unlike the Ishpeming Parade just a few hours earlier, where Great Lakes Radio stations were near the start of the lineup, this time the Great Lakes Radio slot was near the end. In the parade, the Sunny Van (Official Vehicle of Sunny 101.9 – Sunny FM) took the lead , The Real Classic Rock Van for 98.3 WRUP followed up as the second GLR car, and and the 103 FXD Truck (WFXD 103.3 FM), pulling Adam Carpenter in a boat was third.
Many members of staff walked the entire route, with General Manager Todd Noordyk walking both parades beginning to end. Other Great Lakes Radio staff and fans where dispersed between vehicles to support the newer stations in our network: Fox Sports Marquette (105.1 FM), GTO (Good Time Oldies on 97.5 FM), WRPP 92.7 FM Escanaba, and so on.
Dennis Harold and Adam Carpenter tossed candy to kids along the parade route. Again, Adam Carpenter’s Outdoor Show on 103 FXD, was featured. Adam Carpenter’s Outdoor Show returns to its roots Monday, July 6th at 3p on 103.3 WFXD.
