MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) The annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics in Michigan made it’s way across Marquette County today.

The annual event, which features members of Michigan’s law enforcement community running a torch from Copper Harbor to Sterling Heights, serves as a fundraiser and awareness campaign for Special Olympics in Michigan.

Sergeant John Kretzschmar with the Grosse Pointe Police Department joined the SUNNY Morning Show today to chat with Walt Lindala as he was preparing to take the torch and run the final approach into Marquette.

Sergeant Kretzchmar explained that donations could be made to the cause online by heading to the Special Olympics of Michigan website, or by texting the word “torch” to 52000.
