U.S. Senator Carl Levin (D-Detroit) and News Director Walt Lindala
MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) - Michigan’s Senior Senator Carl Levin and Senator Mark Kirk of Illinois., co-chairs of the bipartisan Senate Great Lakes Task Force are introducing legislation to authorize or reauthorize programs intended to protect the Great Lakes.
Senator Levin called in the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike to talk about his plan to introduce legislation closely modeled on the Great Lakes Ecosystem Protection Act of 2010.
Levin says the new legislation would formally authorize the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, an inter-agency program designed to address the most significant problems in the Great Lakes.
The bill would also formally establish an interagency task force, as well as an advisory board to ensure that federal programs are coordinated efficiently and produce tangible results.
