MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Dave Stensaas, organizer of this weekend’s John Lennon Night in Marquette, is hoping to have the event become an annual activity to remember a musical and cultural icon.

Speaking on today’s edition of The SUNNY Morning Show with Walt and Mike on SUNNY 101.9, WKQS, Stensaas said the idea to do the show came to him based on a similar event he used to take part in when he lived in Indiana a few years ago.

The Saturday evening show will feature visual arts, poetry and live music created by local artists who were inspired by John Lennon as both a solo artist and as a member of the Beatles.  The event will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Ore Dock Brewing Company in downtown Marquette.

Stensaas added that the show will be a benefit for UNICEF and all proceeds raised will go to the organization for programs and activities.  A $5.00 donation will be suggested at the door for those attending.
