Holdin’ Our Own

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Forest Roberts Theatre is presenting a concert reading of the drama, “Holdin’ Our Own”, based on the loss of the Edmund Fitzgerald tomorrow on campus.

The play is being presented to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the loss of the freighter.

The play was written by NMU’s Dr. Shelley Russell and she joined the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike today to preview the story.

She said it is an historical drama that combines what is known about the Edmund Fitzgerald tragedy with what has been theorized and what seems likely, given in the circumstances.

Russell was joined by cast member Steve Oates who portrays the Captain of the Edmund Fitzgerald, Earnest McSorely.

Oates talked about performing as the Captain of the ill-fated ship and what that experience has been like for him.

The production is being presented free of charge at 7:30pm at Jamrich Hall 110 and tickets are available at the Forest Roberts Theatre Box Office or at the door.
