MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Newly-elected 109th District State Representative John Kivela called in to the SUNNY Morning Show today with his reaction to Governor Rick Snyder’s State of the State address.
Representative Kivela said he was impressed with the Governor on a few levels, but overall found the address to be a bit underwhelming.
Kivela praised the Governor for his announced plans for bolstering vocational education in high school saying that voc-ed training is very key in the economic future of the Upper Peninsula.
The Marquette County Democrat also commented on the Governor’s call for bipartisanship in getting legislation passed by talking about the bipartisan U.P. Caucus he is a part of with members of both parties representing the U.P.
Kivela disagreed with some of Governor Snyder’s ideas for funding of road improvements with increased fees and questioned the formulas for paying for some of the plans as outlined by the Governor in the address.
