MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Marquette resident Jason Schneider visited The SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike today to talk about his new role as Enterprise Facilitator for Accelerate U.P.

He explained what the job entails and how he came to the position.  He defined it as serving mostly as a coach for people who have ideas for new businesses in the community.

Schneider, who is currently a Marquette City Commissioner, also explained that the job has lead him to decide to not run again this year for a second term.  He said it is a difficult position to be in to foster economic development in the region and still effectively serve his loyalties to the City of Marquette.

He also explained the model created by the organization’s founder, Ernesto Sirolli, and how it works to foster new economic development.  Schneider also acknowledged a connection to mining and mineral extraction and the role of the Rio Tinto Mining Company with elements of the program and bringing it to Marquette.
