MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Marquette Township Officials are inviting area residents, businesses and organizations to celebrate National Trails Day tomorrow with a special event.
Township Manager Randy Girard and Planning Commissioner Michael Springer joined The SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike today to encourage everyone to take part.
Girard and Springer invited folks to Schwemwood Park tomorrow from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for a presentation of conceptual plans to develop the Township’s newly acquired 4.75 acre parcel of property located along the Iron Ore Heritage Trail off of County Road 492, south of the WalMart store.
Girard added that thanks to a grant from the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund and contributions from residents, businesses and organizations, the township acquired the property that is adjacent to the Heritage Trail and the Schwemwood Park property.
The duo took the opportunity to thank all those who have supported the project, and invited all interested parties to a photo shoot tomorrow at noon for a permanent sign that recognizes the stewardship of those who have contributed to the property acquisition.
