Great Lakes Center For Youth Development Encourages Adult Involvement With Kids This Summer
Amy Quinn of the Great Lakes Center For Youth Development.
MARQUETTE, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – As area youth are “released on the streets” from school for the summer, the Great Lakes Center For Youth Development is encouraging adults to take an active role in the kids’ summer activities.
The GLCYD’s Amy Quinn joined The SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike today to chat about “Family Assets”, particularly by establishing routines.
Quinn routines are valuable at this time of year because families are transitioning from a structured school-year to unstructured summer schedules for the youth.
She added that it can be a chaotic transition and there are 2 developmental assets that community members can build in youth and help families.
They are “Neighborhood Boundaries” – neighbors taking responsibility for monitoring young people’s behavior, and “Adult Role Models” – adults modeling positive, responsible behavior.
