    Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Preparations for the annual running of the UP 200 and the Midnight Run sled dog races are on track.

    The Upper Peninsula Sled Dog Association President Ron Hewson joined the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike today to give the latest update.

    He said the UPSDA has opened race headquarters at the YMCA of Marquette County and mushers and their dog teams are beginning to arrive in the Marquette area.

    The musher banquet will be held tonight at the YMCA at 6:30 and is open to the public.

    Vet Check for all teams will begin tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. at the Riverside Auto parking lot in Marquette.

    The annual starting ceremonies are set for 6:30 p.m. tomorrow in Downtown Marquette with the first UP 200 sled dog team out of the gate at 7:00 p.m.

    The Midnight Run will also start in Downtown Marquette at 8:30 p.m.

    Volunteers are still needed for many jobs during the race weekend and anyone interested can find out more at up200.org.
