Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Northern Michigan University is offering potential students the chance to embark on a career as a surgical technologist.

Surgical Technology Program Director Rick Lopez joined the SUNNY morning Show with Walt & Mike today for the latest Wildcat Wednesday.

Lopez explained that surgical technologists handle the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during a surgical procedure, have an understanding of the procedure being performed and anticipate the needs of the surgeon.

He added that students enrolled in the program will learn the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during operative procedures.

Lopez said there are several options for studying about surgical technology at NMU including two and four-year degrees.
