Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) –  In our latest look at things happening at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, this time around we talk about the new university academic and athletic logos recently unveiled to the public.

NMU Art Director Mike Forester joined the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike for Wildcat Wednesday to talk about the new logos and how they came to be.

Forester said that the previous logo represents the beauty of NMU’s campus, but leaves out our entire academic community.

He said the freshening up of the university’s graphic image fits with plans to realign strategies to best serve the students of 2016 and beyond.

Forester said NMU will never move away from including the beautiful place that is Northern’s campus, but the university wants to reestablish itself as an academic community and not just a recreational destination.

He added that the new logos better represent NMU’s advancements as a cutting edge university with progressive programs, and give the university a competitive edge by not only “looking” modern, but it giving a platform to design growth beyond 2016.
