Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Marquette Area Public School District is putting a bond proposal before voters on May 3rd.
District Superintendent Bill Saunders joined the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike this week to discuss the proposal.
Saunders says, if approved, the money will go to pay for six new classrooms at Superior Hills Elementary School and a new auxiliary gymnasium.
He added that the bond proposal seeks to levy a millage of .2 mills that would, in effect, extend an old millage voters have been paying since 1994.
Saunders says the previous millage rate is set to expire in 2020, and the average taxpayer rate over the new bond’s 15 year life would be approximately .44 mills.
