Save The Wild U.P. Encouraging Residents To Attend Public Hearing
SWUP Executive Director Alexandra Thebert
Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Save The Wild U.P., an area environmental advocacy non-profit agency is calling on all interested parties to attend a public hearing next month.
SWUP Executive Director Alexandra Thebert joined The SUNNY Morning Show today to discuss the hearing and more.
Thebert said the hearing, hosted by the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, is for the renewal of a groundwater discharge permit by the Eagle Mine, located in northern Marquette County.
Thebert says SWUP has several issues with the current structure of the DEQ’s review process and they are hoping to have a large group in attendance to bring the concerns to the attention of the review board.
The public hearing will be held at 6 p.m. March 25 at Westwood High School, 300 S. Westwood Dr., in Ishpeming.
