MARQUETTE, MI – July 7th, 2014 – Well Walt Lindala is at it again.  His flight “got cancelled” leaving poor Mike Plourde to pick up the slack again.  On this beautiful Monday in Marquette, MI Mike was joined by Glory Sparks of the Dead River Derby Girls.

Glory was on to promote the last two home bouts that the girls are going to have for the season and to let people know to come on down to Lakeview arena for a good time.  The girls have a bout with the Northwoods Derby Knockouts this Saturday at Lakeview Arena.

Said Glory:  “Fan participation is huge in these events.  When you’re out there skating around and getting bumped, or you get thrown into a ‘jam’ that can last over two minutes, it gets exhausting.  Like any sport, though, when you hear the fans cheering you on, you get the adrenaline needed to keep going in crunch time.”

Although they’re only in their second season, the Dead River Derby Girls are undefeated.  They’ve begun to make a name for themselves in the circuits and look to continue that this Saturday.

The doors at Lakeview Arena open at 6 and the bout begins at 7pm, so be sure to head down there for a great time.  Glory also mentioned that the bouts usually wrap up around 8:50-9pm, so that would leave plenty of time for people who’d like to be in Negaunee for the Pioneer Days Fireworks Show after sundown.  It’s a family friendly event that caters to families and single-folk alike.
