Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – On July 19, 2012, Daniel Olson ended his life after a lengthy battle with depression.

He was an all-state athlete from Ishpeming High School, was devoted to his family and friends and was a beloved member of the community.

“Do It For Daniel” is a film that documents Daniel’s story and is being made to educate people about the impact of depression on young people and their families and to create a dialogue.

Daniel’s father, Jeff Olson, joined Sports Director Mike Plourde on the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike today to talk about his son and the film that documents his story.

He said the film has a strong message that needs to be heard and explains that people who suffer from depression don’t want to die, they just want to escape the pain.

Olson said the filmmakers believe that, through education, we can help stop stigma and people who suffer from this disease will feel less isolated.
