Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) –  The National Weather Service Office in Negaunee Township says moderate lake effect snow and gusty north winds will continue over portions of west and north central Upper Michigan through this afternoon.

A Lake Effect Snow Advisory remains in effect until 2:00 p.m. edt.

Expect light to moderate lake effect snow to taper to flurries by early afternoon with total snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches.

Look for the greatest accumulation well inland from Lake Superior from Champion and Ishpeming to Republic and the least snow accumulation along the Lake Superior shoreline.

The wet snow will result in slippery conditions on area roadways this morning and north winds gusting over 30 mph will also produce blowing snow and reduced visibility at times in some areas.
