Snyder To Win Second Term As Governor

    Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Detroit Free Press is projecting that Governor Rick Snyder will defeat Democratic challenger Mark Schauer and win a second term in office.

    With 18% of precincts reporting, Snyder holds a 56 to 42 percent lead in a race that was expected to down to the wire.

    According to the Free Press, Snyder has said the business tax cut was necessary to spur economic growth and he’s touted the creation of nearly 300,000 private-sector jobs since he took office.

    He defended the pension tax as a matter of fairness to retirees with other forms of income.

    The governor also in recent days promoted his work tackling Detroit’s debt and reforming city government through a state emergency manager takeover and the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history.
