Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Former Marquette Mayor and current 109th District State Rep. John Kivela joined the show today to talk about an historic event that happened this past weekend in Marquette.

Kivela talked about the transfer of the deed for the iconic Marquette Light House in Lower Harbor from the U.S. Coast Guard to the City of Marquette and the 10-year process it took for the transfer to happen.

The deed transfer happened last Saturday during a special celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the light house going into service.

Kivela also talked about his current re-election campaign to the State House going into tomorrow’s primary election.

He talked about his voting record and answered comments from critics who say he has been too collegial with majority Republicans as a Democrat.
