Blue Cross/Blue Shield Of Michigan Seeking U.P. Schools To Apply For Grant Program

Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan says now is the opportunity for Upper Michigan schools to apply for their Building Healthy Communities program.

BC/BS of MI Director of Community Responsibility Suzanne Allen joined the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike to encourage Michigan elementary schools to apply for the program.

Allen said the program is a grant funding initiative that fights childhood obesity by surrounding children and families with healthy eating and physical activity.

She encouraged all interested area schools to get involved and apply for the funding.

The grants can be used for educating students through classroom lessons and curriculum about making healthy choices and increasing access to physical activity opportunities and healthy foods.

Allen said that applications are due March 2, 2015.
