Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The Negaunee Public Schools are off to a good start for this school year.

Superintendent Dan Skewis joined the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike for the latest “Superintendent Series” to share an update on things happening in the Miner Nation.

Skewis talked about a shocking start to the school year with the Negaunee Middle School sustaining a nearby lightning strike on the first day of classes that caused some damage to the facility, which was covered by insurance for the needed repairs.

He also talked about the school board making changes recently to the school code of conduct concerning so-called “unnatural hair color” as a class disruption in the dress code.

Skewis also talked about some of the academic and athletic successes already racked up in the Negaunee Schools this year.
