(Marquette, MI) – Great Lakes Radio, Inc. is proud to announce SUNNY FM (101.9 WKQS) has been named Station of the Year by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters. The official notification was made Wednesday evening at the annual MAB Broadcast Excellence Awards at the Lansing Center in Lansing, MI.

SUNNY FM was named as Market 4 Station of the Year following an unprecedented 9 awards recognizing the station in several categories, including: Community Involvement, News, Sports Play-By-Play, Feature Programing, Breaking News Coverage, Investigative Reporting and On-Air Personalities.

Great Lakes Radio Owner and General Manager Todd Noordyk says the award showcases the talents of station staff in many departments.

“I am very happy to win Station of the Year, but I am also truly pleased we were recognized in so many different categories”, said Noordyk. “From the local news and interviews we bring our listeners every day to our continuing coverage of Negaunee Miner sports, our on-air and technical staff work very hard to maintain a high level of quality for our listeners to enjoy.”

Noordyk added, “The award we are most proud of, though, is the one we won for Community Involvement. We are a locally-owned and operated station group with a staff that lives in Marquette County. To be noticed by a statewide organization like the MAB for the work we do covering our hometown communities is fantastic.”

Information on station shows and personalities, news and interviews, Negaunee Miner sports coverage and more can be found at the station’s website at SUNNY.FM.

Great Lakes Radio Inc. is a family-owned and operated 12 station group based in Marquette, MI. The company is currently celebrating 25 years in broadcasting in Michigan.
