Marquette, MI – (Great Lakes Radio News) – The SAIL Disability Network of the U.P. (formerly the Superior Alliance for Independent Living) is presenting a special clinic on the adaptive sport of sled hockey on Saturday December 3rd in Marquette.

Sara Peurakoski, Executive Director of the SAIL Disability Network of the U.P., and Sled Hockey Program Coordinator Allen Beauchamp joined the SUNNY Morning Show with Walt & Mike this week to talk about the clinic.

Beauchamp explained what sled hockey is all about and how the clinic at Lakeview Arena, which runs from 3:00pm to 6:00pm that day, is intended to introduce the sport to the community.

He said sled hockey gives those with disabilities related to spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy and amputation a chance to get out on the ice and play hockey.

Peurakoski also talked about the agency’s “One in Five” Annual Appeal Sustaining Campaign and it’s goal to raise $55,000 to support programs by the SAIL Disability Network of the U.P. across the Upper Peninsula.
